Zverev and Co. stopped by the rain in Rome

The German tennis trio with Olympic champions Alexander Zverev, Daniel Altmaier and Yannick Hanfmann was stopped by the constant rain in the “Eternal City” at the ATP Masters in Rome on Saturday.

While Zverev and Hanfmann were not even able to start their second round encounters in the evening, Altmaier was on course in a duel with number twelve US Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe (USA) with a score of 6: 3, 3: 4.

Game operations had to be interrupted several times on the day of the game due to the rain. However, Spain’s tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz was not affected by the adverse conditions. The 20-year-old will lead the upcoming world rankings again.

For this, the US Open winner only had to compete in the second round match against his compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Alcaraz won the game comfortably 6: 4, 6: 1 and replaced the 22-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic (Serbia) at the top of the rankings. US Open winner Alcaraz will also go into the French Open as number one on the seeding list.
