ZSK release song on the first anniversary of Jina Mahsa Amini’s death

On September 16, 2022, Jina Mahsa Amini died violently in Iran while in police custody. The arrest was triggered by her alleged violation of the hijab law. The case sparked protests across the country by Iranian women and men, as well as Kurdish and other minorities, against state violence. On the first anniversary of Amini’s death and the beginning of the ongoing protests, the Berlin punk band ZSK wants to commemorate the young woman.

ZSK and Amnesty International campaigned for the people of Iran

Together with Amnesty International, ZSK want to set an example and raise awareness for the current situation in Iran. Thousands of people continue to take to the streets to defend themselves against the theocratic regime. And although the issue has almost disappeared from Western media, innocent people are still being arrested, wrongfully convicted and executed.

In support of Iranians who are rebelling against the government, will be published on September 15th. the song “Every Hand” by ZSK on the usual streaming platforms. A corresponding music video can also be seen on YouTube. All proceeds from the proceeds go directly to organizations that work for the people of Iran.

ZSK singer Joshi commented on the release of “Every Hand” as follows: “The death of Jina Mahsa Amini shows how afraid the regime in Tehran is of the protests. We are very impressed by the images of the courageous people who continue to take to the streets for freedom and risk their lives. One thing is clear: if the world stops looking now, many of these people will die. As musicians, we naturally ask ourselves: How can we make the protests more heard? So we teamed up with Amnesty International in Germany and are now trying to get as many people as possible to sign the appeal to the federal government. Our song ‘Every Hand’ is our way of directly supporting the activists in Iran. Everyone involved (from the band, record company to sales and promotion agency) gives up their shares so that all the income from the song can be donated.”

Amnesty International has also launched a petition to call on the German federal government to take action. Anyone who would like to take part in the petition can do so via this link do. Further information is available at: www.amnesty.de/jina.
