President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed the creation of a “union of responsible countries” – an international organization that could prevent armed conflicts and respond in emergency situations, including natural disasters. Zelensky stated this, speaking with a video message to members of the US Congress, which was broadcast was conducted on the Washington Post YouTube page.
“We propose to create a Union of Responsible Countries capable of immediately responding and doing everything to stop conflicts immediately, providing all necessary support within 24 hours. And if necessary [предоставлять] weapons, if necessary, impose sanctions or provide humanitarian, political and financial support – everything that is necessary to maintain peace, in order to quickly save the world and lives,” Zelensky said.

He believes that the existing institutions created after the Second World War do not work. Also, according to him, the new organization should not limit its activities to responding to military threats.
“Such an alliance should also provide assistance to those suffering from natural disasters, humanitarian crises and epidemics. Remember how difficult it was for the world to cope with a much simpler problem – vaccination against coronavirus, ”the Ukrainian leader said.
