Zaanse Sam ‘kite skated’ and did stunts through the Kalverpolder today

The Zaanse Sam braved the ice in a very exceptional way. Today, with his kite in hand and irons under his feet, he glided through the Kalverpolder. He also did not shy away from some stunt work.

Normally Sam de Lorm from Zaandam can be found kitesurfing on the water, but today he had a different idea. “It works just as well on the ice,” he explains. “Or maybe better.”

Skip class

Sam races through the polder with great speed and flexibility. If possible, he also jumps meters into the air. To perform stunts or to avoid a hole here and there. “It’s just adrenaline,” he says enthusiastically. “I’ve been waiting for it for a long time and now it’s actually possible again.”

All this under the watchful eye of a clearly proud father. His father will skip kite skating for a while. Actually, he’s not supposed to be on the ice at all. “I’m skipping school,” he admits. He sneaked out between work to check on his son. “So don’t tell anyone!”
