In the course of the fight for the presidency at Real Madrid, incumbent Florentino Pérez and challenger Enrique Riquelme have announced possible mega transfers. Pérez, who ultimately prevailed, is said to have advertised, among other things, that he wanted to make a 150 million euro advance on a top star from a Champions League participant. Pérez didn’t get any more specific, but Spanish media quickly brought Michael Olise into the picture. It didn’t take long for a reply from Munich to arrive; now Mathias Sammer, a former member of Bayern’s management team who now works for BVB, joined the debate.
When asked in an interview with “Sky” whether FC Bayern should sell Michael Olise if Real Madrid offers 150 million euros, BVB advisor Matthias Sammer explained: “If they can pay their bills – No! Why? Because it’s a signal. FC Bayern is not a seller’s club!”
Bayern Munich club president Herbert Hainer had already sent a clear message to Pérez and Real Madrid on Sunday: Michael Olise was “of course not for sale,” the 71-year-old was quoted as saying by the “Mittelbayerische Zeitung”. This also applies in the event that the Spaniards send a mega offer of 150 million euros to Säbener Straße.
World Cup chances of the DFB team? Sammer believes “we can achieve something”
It is clear that Olise plays a central role in FC Bayern’s plans. Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß recently repeatedly described the winger as unsellable. “He can throw five eyes at Olise, he won’t get him,” Hoeneß said on “Sky” in May in the direction of José Mourinho, who is reportedly about to take on a second term as coach of the Spanish record champions.
At the World Cup, the DFB team could meet Olise and the French in the round of 16. At least Sammer doesn’t think the German team has a complete chance.
“I am convinced that we have a good team and that we can achieve something,” said the 1996 European champion.
