The two shoplifters who stole records and a CD from Sounds Tilburg on Saturday reported themselves to the record store. After the theft, Sounds Tilburg posted a photo of the young duo online and their mother recognized them. “The mother said that they had to return the items or pay for it. And they did that, paid,” said an employee of Sounds Tilburg on Monday afternoon.
It was Saturday afternoon when the two teenagers walked into the record store. The employee behind the cash register had seen them before before items disappeared from the store. So he decided to keep an eye on them.
The two had a whole stack of records in their hands, but the stack was getting smaller and smaller. The employee spoke to them. And rightly so, because they had hundreds of euros worth of LPs and a CD in their bag.
They handed in the items and quickly left. At the store they were not happy with the attempted theft. The owner of the store posted a photo of the duo online to make it clear that this will not be tolerated.
To the police and the store
The mother of the two thieves recognized her children. She immediately took them to the police on Saturday, but also to the store to pay. It turned out not to be the first time her children had stolen something. That is why they are no longer welcome in the record store. “And we will also pass this on to the other retailers here.”
In addition to the young pair, there was also a third shoplifter from another family. “The father called today to make arrangements with us. That still has to happen,” says the employee.
The owner of the store did not report the incident to the police because the thieves reported themselves.
Check bags
Despite this compensation, there is still frustration in the store. “We took the photo down, but we were too angry not to,” the employee said. “The youngest thief said on Saturday that he just walks through the store and puts the things in his bag. So now we have to check all bags from now on, well, thanks guys!”
