The leaves turn red, orange and yellow and flutter from the trees: the perfect time to take an autumn walk through the Dobbepark. During your tour you will encounter all kinds of people: from fanatical hikers to mysterious mushroom connoisseurs. Which ones have you spotted before?

The mushroom spotter

You can see them from afar: someone who stops abruptly every now and then and then dives into a squat position next to a tree stump. “Ooooh, look at an ink fungus!”, it sounds. Naturally, the mushroom app is immediately used to check exactly which species it is. Bonus points if the mushroom spotter also takes a photo as proof of this important discovery.

The self-proclaimed photographer

Bench? Click. Tree? Click. Street lamp that is crooked? Aesthetic. While you try to keep walking, the self-proclaimed photographer squats or lies on the ground for the perfect shot. Everything for the feed: leaves, bridges, puddles and a coincidentally charming garbage can. In the meantime, you unintentionally walk through their image eight times. Oops!

The pigeon whisperer

With a hand full of breadcrumbs, the pigeon whisperer talks softly to the pigeons as if they were old friends. “Come on, Karel! And you, Hennie, stay nice. There is enough food for everyone.” Everyone watches in amazement as dozens of feathered fanatics rush towards him or her. Pure Disney energy.

The power walker

As if there is an invisible finish line in sight, this hiker races past. Arms pump, legs fly forward and hips sway like they’re going for gold. Stop for a duck, a photo or a nice chat? Nope. It’s not crazy to ask yourself whether this is walking or almost running. Anyway, you better get out of the way for a moment. Zoof!

The caller

You walk through the Westerpark unsuspectingly. It’s quiet, until you suddenly hear a voice. “Hey, how are you?!” the person shouts. You look around: the park is otherwise empty. “Okay?”, you stammer in discomfort. The other person glances at you briefly, but then continues talking into a vacuum. If only you had seen the wireless earphones earlier…

The ANWB couple

You can easily pick them out: the ANWB couple. Why? Because they wear exactly the same thing as their walking partner. Like some kind of Siamese twins, they walk along the walking path, complete with matching jackets, shoes and probably a carefully planned route.

The directionless wanderer

No goal, no route and no hurry: the directionless stroller wanders around in his or her own world. Sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right, sometimes almost against you. In the middle of the path they suddenly stop to admire a thought or a branch. But hey, enjoyment comes first!
