Yavuz Kocaömer, who is considered to be the father of disabled sports in Turkey, passed away in the hospital where he was treated for a while. Yavuz Kocaömer, who also wrote weekly columns in some newspapers about the disabled, was awarded the German State Order of Merit by the German Presidency in 2011 for his contributions to disabled sports and Turkish-German relations.
