iOS is the TechGigant Apple operating system. IOS 18 is currently available on the iPhone, for example on the Apple Watch (Watchos) or Apple TV (TVOS) other versions numbers apply. Apple is throwing it over a totally different bow for the latest iOS: all devices then switch to iOS 26, in order to get a new, logically numbered version every year. From iOS 18 we will immediately switch to iOS 26. The public launch is expected to be this fall.

Liquid Glass on iOS 26 from Apple

iOS 26 also gets a huge makeover. The appearance on the screens, also known as the ‘interface’, becomes ‘Liquid Glass’. This new design language will mean that the icons, buds and beams float like a liquid glass above the rest of the app.

Liquid Glass is inspired by Visionos, the operating system that controls the Apple Vision Pro, and according to Apple ‘must’ make the digital world feel very alive ‘. It is the first time since iOS 7 in 2013 that the iPhone gets such a large new design.

Voicemail summarizes itself

Multiple commonly used apps on the iPhone will also work completely differently on iOS 26. This includes the camera and telephone app. With ‘telephone’, recent conversations and favorites are shown on one screen. And if you are called by an unknown number, the sender must first send a reason per text why he/she is calling. You get to see that reason.

If someone speaks a voicemail, you will also get a summary of the voicemail per text, so you don’t have to listen to the message. Moreover, if you are on hold somewhere, break music is automatically spotted by your phone.

You don’t have to hear that annoying music all the time, you can simply put your phone away. As soon as you are out of watch, your ringtone will go off.

From now on you can have conversations translated live in Facetime. Handy if, for example, you want to know what that French -speaking aunt says. That happens thanks to Apple Intelligence, which will finally speak Dutch later this year. Furthermore, the camera app also gets a new, tighter design and you can set a 3D background on the homepage.

Visual Intelligence

Apple also introduces an expansion of Visual Intelligence. This makes it possible to look up a screenshot directly via, for example, Google. Suppose you see a nice table on Instagram. Then you only have to make a screenshot and click on the ‘Visuel Intelligence’ button. He will then immediately look up what exactly there is to see and where that table is for sale. There is even a built -in link with chatgpt. This way you can also ask that chatbot what you see on your screen.
