“It is not easy to assimilate that one of your dreams as a child is ruined by a slight sprain,” he posted on his Twitter profile.

The Valencia captain will not be in Qatar with the Spanish team and his position has been replaced by Alejandro Balde

José Luis Gayà will not play in the Qatar 2022 World Cup after suffering a sprained ankle. Luis Enrique’s decision leaves the left back out of the World Cup; leaving his position for the blaugrana Alejandro Balde.

The Valencia captain has published a message on his official Twitter profile: “It is not easy to assimilate that one of your dreams as a child is ruined by a slight sprain, but things sometimes come like that and we must accept them. Now, I will be one more fan who will enjoy every game of La Roja. For this reason, I want to wish my teammates all the luck in the world because I have no doubt that this is the World Cup in Spain. Life goes on”.

“Today has been the hardest day, I had to tell Jose Luis Gayà to leave due to the immediacy of the matches, it’s a minor injury but I didn’t want to take risks. It is not easy to say this to a player, I can only thank his behaviour, he is a great professional both on and off the pitch and I wish him the best, this is the hardest part of being a coach”, commented Luis Enrique in his ‘ streaming’.
