Jordan’s “golden generation” is looking forward to the first World Cup
In the capital Amman, Jordan’s national team is preparing for the first World Cup in history. The team around Mousa Tamari from French first division club Stade Rennes is considered the country’s “golden generation” and most recently came second at the Asian Championships. In Group J, Jordan is considered a big underdog against Argentina, Austria and Algeria, but the team is certainly confident.

Ex-Bundesliga professional Embolo is waiting for a visa for the USA
Former Bundesliga professional Breel Embolo continues to wait at Zurich airport: Due to problems with his electronic entry permit, the 29-year-old did not travel with the Swiss national soccer team to the World Cup in the USA for the time being. The striker was not able to fly with the team from Zurich to Los Angeles on Tuesday as planned, the Swiss Football Association (SFV) announced.
Embolo’s ESTA approval was “approved until this morning,” the association said on Tuesday. At 10.30 a.m. the SFV received the information “that his ESTA was being clarified again”. The association is now in contact with the authorities. It is assumed that Embolo will be able to travel on Wednesday.

4-0 against New Zealand – Haiti shoots itself into World Cup form
In the penultimate test match before the final round, Haiti surprisingly won against New Zealand in a duel between two World Cup participants. The goals in the 4-0 (1-0) were scored by Ruben Providence (12th minute), Lenny Joseph (51st), Frantzdy Pierrot (62nd) and Duke LaCroix (87th).
Haiti is considered a big underdog at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. In Group C the opponents are Scotland, Morocco and Brazil. It is only Haiti’s second participation in a World Cup finals after 1974. Their opponents New Zealand are also among the outsiders in the field of 48 participants, but are at least taking part in a World Cup for the third time after 1982 and 2010. New Zealand will play in Group G against Belgium, Egypt and Iran.

Goalkeeper Josué Duverger, 26, has been playing for FC Cosmos Koblenz in the top league for two years. Now he’s going to the World Cup with Haiti. “That’s a great feeling,” Duverger told ARD. He could play against Scotland, Brazil and Morocco; it would be the big stage for someone who usually plays against after-work footballers. But it is more likely that he will not play. Duverger has played six international matches, the last one so far in September 2025. He was also not used in the 4-0 win in the friendly against New Zealand.

Belgium wins friendly in Croatia
Belgium won 2-0 in the friendly in Croatia. In the duel between two World Cup participants in Rijeka, Youri Tielemans gave the team a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute, Romelu Lukaku followed up deep in injury time (90th + 6). Ancelotti remains confident about Neymar
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti is in no hurry to bring in superstar Neymar after his calf injury. “He’s making progress, things are going well, we’re in no rush”said the 66-year-old after the Brazilian national team arrived in the USA. During Brazil’s World Cup friendly against Panama (6-2) on Monday, Ancelotti said that he expected Neymar to return in the first or second group game. The 34-year-old striker has been missing from the team since last week due to a muscle injury to his calf. He will also miss the dress rehearsal against Egypt (June 6).

Fear of Ebola – Congo’s test match against Chile canceled
Out of caution over the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Cup friendly between the Congolese national team and Chile in Spain was canceled.
