Who should go and who should stay

After being relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time, VfL Wolfsburg apparently wants to turn almost half of its current squad value into income. According to a report by “Sport Bild”, the stars around Kamil Grabara, Mohamed Amoura and Lovro Majer are expected to bring in a total of around 100 million euros. It is emphasized that it has been determined internally that no player should be sold below value. Especially since they all have valid contracts for the 2nd Bundesliga.
With 12 million, 20 million and 8 million euros, the mentioned trio are among the most valuable professionals in the team, but together they would “only” come to 40 million euros. Further sales are therefore necessary. Christian Eriksen, who could leave for a low fee, is also facing a separation. His market value fell to 2.5 million euros in the latest Bundesliga update. There are reports of a return to Ajax Amsterdam.
With 25 million euros, the most valuable player in the squad is Konstantinos Koulierakis, who, according to reports, the Lower Saxony team would like to keep in the second division, but this will be difficult if the corresponding offers come in. In the transfer market rumor mill, the central defender is linked to Juventus Turin. The same applies to Patrick Wimmer, who is valued at 12 million euros. However, the winger is about to transfer to TSG Hoffenheim. The transfer fee should amount to between 10 million and 12.5 million euros.

Dzenan Pejcinovic, who was recently the only market value winner within the team and climbed from 10 million to 15 million euros, is also very popular with other clubs. Bayer Leverkusen, SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt from the Bundesliga are said to be showing interest in the attacker. However, the 21-year-old is on the Wolves’ list of players who should stay. This also includes Kento Shiogai, captain Maximilian Arnold, Bence Dárdai and Vini Souza.

VfL Wolfsburg: Herthas Ernst and Reese had promised to stay in the league
New additions include Fraser Hornby from Darmstadt 98 and Elvis Rexhbecaj from FC Augsburg, whose moves have already been confirmed. According to the magazine, the VW club also had commitments from the two Hertha professionals Tjark Ernst and Fabian Reese, but only in the event of relegation. It now needs to be clarified whether they are ready for the 2nd Bundesliga. Discussions with the two most valuable Berliners behind Kennet Eichhorn are ongoing.

After moving into the second division for the first time, VfL’s budget is expected to be reduced from up to 80 million euros to around 40 million euros, which is still the largest among all 18 clubs in the German lower house of football and therefore requires direct promotion. Wolfsburg has only broken the 100 million euro mark in revenue once: in 2015/16, when they received 76 million euros from Manchester City for Kevin De Bruyne, among others. To this day it is a record exit.
