The DSV Adler Felix Hoffmann surprisingly won the qualification in Engelberg. Philipp Raimund was also convincing.

The DSV Adler Felix Hoffmann surprisingly won the qualification for the World Cup in Engelberg. The 28-year-old had already dominated training and then took the qualifying victory under the floodlights in Engelberg on Friday evening with 132 meters (166.7 points). The Austrians Jan Hörl (132 m, 165.9 points) and Stefan Kraft (131.5 m, 159.7 points) came second and third. German favorite Philipp Raimund also made a strong impression in fourth place before the first competition on Saturday.

“I’ve already had good training jumps, I like the hill and I hope I have a good day again in the competition”said Hoffmann, who is a permanent part of the German World Cup squad for the first time this season and has established himself as the German number two behind Raimund over the course of the winter.

Pashke with me difficulties

Pius Paschke, on the other hand, struggled and couldn’t find the connection. After a solid start to the season, the DSV veteran has struggled to deliver his performance in recent weeks. On Friday evening, the Bavarian only just made it into the competition with 118 meters. Andreas Wellinger and Karl, on the other hand, miss the weekend in Engelberg and train instead.

DSV youngster Ben Bayer with a solid performance

A debutant was added to the squad for them: Ben Bayer was able to secure Wellinger’s ticket and put in a solid performance straight away. At his World Cup debut, the DSV youngster impressed with a 121-meter jump.

The last competitions before Christmas are traditionally on the program in Engelberg, Switzerland, on the Gross-Titlis ski jump. The two individual competitions are also a dress rehearsal for the Four Hills Tournament, which begins as the first big highlight of the winter at the end of December with the kick-off in Oberstdorf.
