Justus Strelow hands over to Selina Grotian

As of: January 11, 2025 7:24 p.m

The German biathletes are still waiting for a podium finish at the home World Cup in Oberhof. The last chance for this is the mixed relays on Sunday (January 12, 2025).

Selina Grotian and Justus Strelow will compete in the single mixed (from 12.20 p.m. in the live ticker). The German Ski Association (DSV) announced this on Saturday evening. In the pursuit, Grotian missed the podium by a few seconds in fifth place, but achieved Germany’s previous top position in the days at the Grenzadler. Strelow is considered a proven fast shooter, so he is exactly the right candidate for this format.

Voigt missed single mixed

In the only single mixed race of the season so far at the start in Kontiolahti, Strelow and Vanessa Voigt achieved third place. In the previous season they even won the single mixed in Antholz. But the Thuringian is no longer at the start. Due to health problems, she only came 68th in the sprint and thus missed qualifying for the pursuit. After consulting with the doctors, they decided not to take part in any further participation in their home race.

Riethmüller and Preuß again in the mixed relay

At the end of the competitions in the Thuringian Forest, Danilo Riethmüller, Philipp Nawrath, Julia Tannheimer and Franziska Preuß will try to give the probably almost 20,000 spectators in the Rennsteig Arena a podium in the mixed relay.

Riethmüller and Preuß had also competed in the mixed relay in Kontiolahti and missed the podium in fourth place with Johanna Puff and Philipp Horn after too many mistakes at the shooting range, but missed the podium by more than two minutes.
