Over 150 million questions during the sales phase via random drawing: it is the highest figure in the history of the World Cup

Halfway through the random ticket sales phase, the record has already been broken, with over 150 million ticket requests submitted so far by fans from over 200 countries. The 2026 World Cup saw more than 30 times more requests than there were places available. The demand also represents 3.4 times the total number of spectators who have attended the 964 matches that have made up all 22 editions of the competition since 1930.

“The 2026 World Cup promises to be the biggest and most inclusive spectacle on the planet, with over 150 million tickets already requested in the first 15 days alone,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino. “This overwhelming response from passionate fans is a true representation of how much our sport is loved globally – we will make history in North America.” The event will take place from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19, 2026 across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States and will feature 48 teams competing in 104 total games. The ticket sales phase via random drawing will remain open until Tuesday 13 January 2026 at 5pm Italian time and the time at which the ticket request is made within this window does not affect the chances of success.
