Some Canadian Hollywood stars also followed the game up close: Actor Ryan Reynolds (“Deadpool”) and comedian Mike Myers (“Austin Powers”) were also in the audience among the 43,000 spectators in Toronto. Watched as Canada’s Cyle Larin scored a deserved equalizer in the final stages.

Even before kick-off, actor Will Arnett (“Arrested Development”) welcomed the spectators and opened a game with the flags of all 48 World Cup participants. Singer Michael Bublé, among others, impressed with his performance, while his colleague Alanis Morissette sang the Canadian national anthem.

Reynolds in particular is known as a football fan; since 2020, the 49-year-old has been the owner of the Welsh club Wrexham together with his colleague Rob McElhenny; the club narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League last season.
