The 2014 world champion is trusting the Leverkusen success duo in recent years its likely new tasks. But he also has a warning.

The personal details of Florian Wirtz and Xabi Alonso continue to offer conversation material – also with Toni Kroos. On the edge of his Icon League in Berlin, the former international commented on the speculation about a change of the Leverkusen playmaker and the future of Alonsos at his former club Real Madrid.

National player Wirtz, currently still under contract with Bayer Leverkusen, is associated with the English master FC Liverpool. Toni Kroos basically believes in the class of the 22-year-old. Kroos said about him that Wirtz was “so good in the end that he is able to assert himself anywhere”.

However, the ex-world champion no longer considers a move to Munich as likely. Kroos emphasized: “It was only obvious to everyone that he was going to Bavaria. I didn’t know that and did not believe it in old manner when someone writes that.” Regardless of whether Wirtz switches to Liverpool or another top club – it would definitely be “something other than Leverkusen,” said Kroos.

Wirtz ‘previous Leverkusen coach Alonso will take over the Spanish record champions Real Madrid next week. A comprehensible step for Kroos: “It seemed a bit of the logical step now.”

However, the 35-year-old warns of premature assessments. “I don’t think so much of advance laurels”. Kroos continues: “I believe that he can be a very good coach for real. But that will also be evaluated afterwards. Real is different than Leverkusen.”
