Wopke Hoekstra has submitted his resignation as Minister of Foreign Affairs to the King. His portfolio will be held by Minister Liesje Schreinemacher until a new Minister of Foreign Affairs takes office.
Hoekstra will start in Brussels as a candidate European Commissioner for Climate Change, where he will be supported in his preparatory work by a small team from the European Commission.
Hoekstra was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 10 January 2022 to 1 September 2023.
