Women’s futsal: Bitonto are champions of Italy

After eliminating the defending champions from Falconara in the semifinals, the Apulian team also wins the final and adds the Scudetto to the already conquered Italian Cup

Peter Santercole

The successor of the City of Falconara in the golden register of the Italian futsal champions is who punished it in the semifinal. In a hard-fought semifinal, moreover. Bitonto celebrates in Giovinazzo, together with his people: he prevails 6-2 in race-3 of the Finals championship for women and hits the prestigious double.

THREE GOALS IN HALF

At the PalaPansini a balanced start: Vanin has the ball to make it 0-1, but Castagnaro rejects repeating himself on Tampa, match winner of game-2. Mansueto’s shot with a sure shot comes just short of the goal. More precisely Renata, who in the 13th minute uncorks a game that becomes sparkling: Lucileia triggers the lethal restart closed by Diana Santos for the 2-0, Vanin shortens the distance, Lucileia sets up on her own (exploiting the numerical superiority for the red light in Bettioli ) signing the 3-1 with which we go to the interval. TikiTaka doesn’t give up and again with Vanin reopens the match in the second half. Cely Gayardo tries in every way to recalibrate the final of the finals, but the 5vs4 move proves fatal: Lucilèia and mvp Renata, both from distance, brand the final 6-2. The Scudetto returns to Puglia: after Statte’s Taranto wins and Margherita di Savoia’s Salinis, it’s Bitonto’s turn to celebrate, complete with a championship-cup match.
