The FC Barcelona footballers clearly won against Real Madrid in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League. It was a bitter evening for Sara Däbritz.
Last year’s finalist from Barcelona won the quarter-final first leg at Real with ex-national player Däbritz 6:2 (3:1). It would be a surprise if, after the impressions from the first leg, Real should still qualify for the semi-finals in the second leg on April 2nd (6.45 p.m.) at the Camp Nou.
Pajor scores twice for Barca
Former Wolfsburg player Ewa Pajor (6th) let Barcelona celebrate early in an entertaining game, Esmee Brugts (13th) added a header a little later in the dream start. Madrid’s Linda Caicedo (30th) brought the hosts closer – but shortly afterwards “Barca” celebrated again when Spanish world champion Irene Paredes (32nd) scored from a corner.
In the second round, Pajor (57th) increased the score with her second goal and Vicky Lopez (64th). Once again Caicedo (66′) shortened the score for Madrid before Barca captain Alexia Putellas (89′) scored the final score with a penalty kick. Manchester United and Bayern Munich will determine the semi-final opponents.
