Bureau Brabant will pay attention on Monday to two fraud cases, in which a bank card and PIN code were stolen from two older women in August. Money was then withdrawn from their accounts. The victims come from Sleeuwijk and Roosendaal and are 79 and 80. Jewelry was also stolen from one of them. There is no trace of the perpetrators.
The Roosendaal resident received a call on Friday, August 8, around three o’clock in the afternoon from a man posing as an employee of the bank. A tactic that is often used. She was told that a suspicious transaction would take place. To prevent this, the man on the phone needed her bank card and PIN code.
For this purpose, a (as it turned out) fake police officer came to the door and the woman gave him her bank card and money. According to the ‘agent’, the bank card would be blocked and then the bank card would be returned. Later she finds out that she has been scammed, but money had already been withdrawn from her account.
With the help of her son, she discovered that her card had been used at a gas station at Geldmaat on Onze Lieve Vrouwenstraat in Zegge and in Philipslaan in Roosendaal.
What did the suspect look like?
A description of the suspect has been distributed in the investigation program. This is a man with a light beard and mustache. He was wearing dark clothing and also wore a dark cap, black shoes and a black shoulder bag.
On August 22, a 79-year-old woman from Sleeuwijk was fooled. Even now it is someone who knows how to strike as a fake agent. Hundreds of euros were allegedly taken from her account. The caller says that someone will come by immediately to see what is going on. Less than five minutes later, a man is already at her door. He says he is from the police and shows some kind of badge on his phone.
The woman doesn’t trust it. She even refuses to hand over her PIN code and bank card first. The man talks so much into her and the pressure to cooperate becomes so high that she almost starts to cry and eventually gives in.
Fake cop also steals jewelry and cash
The man walks into the house and takes not only her card and PIN code, but also gold jewelry, rings, watches, a necklace and cash. He even takes her phone with him. That same afternoon, her card was used several times. This happens in Sleeuwijk and Gorinchem. This has been captured on video. It is not certain whether this is the man who rang the woman’s doorbell and attacked her house.
The suspect in this case is also a man, aged between twenty and 25. He was wearing baggy jeans, a dark jacket and sunglasses.
