A motorist miraculously was not seriously injured in a highway crash Tuesday morning. The woman was driving on the A59 near Sprang-Capelle when she hit the guardrail and shot off the road.
The car came to rest upside down in the meadow. Bystanders came to the rescue and helped the woman open the car door. She was able to get out independently.
The motorist was checked at the scene by ambulance staff. She suffered minor injuries and did not have to be taken to hospital.
A towing company righted the car and removed it. One lane was temporarily closed, causing a traffic jam in the direction of Waalwijk to Hooipolder.
