According to the results of the autopsies conducted on Wednesday, the 35-year-old mother and her daughters, aged 7 and 10, died from approximately ten stab wounds each, “which were administered with great force.” The boys, aged 9 months and four years respectively, died of suffocation after drowning. This was reported by the prosecutor of Meaux, Jean-Baptiste Bladier. The father confirmed those findings during his interrogation.

The man also stated that there was no specific reason for his action and that he had “felt empty” since the facts. The man in his thirties was treated for psychosis and depression. According to Bladier, the man had been taking a number of medications every day since 2019, but on December 24 he had not done so.

The prosecutor did not reveal the exact date of the tragedy. Police discovered the bodies in several rooms of the family home on Christmas Eve around 9 p.m., he said. Authorities were called by neighbors concerned about the mother’s lack of news.

The father was remanded in custody and charged with “intentional manslaughter of minors under the age of 15” and “intentional manslaughter by a spouse”.
