A not given penalty is being discussed wildly in Wolfsburg. The trouble is particularly big with the trainer.

VfL Wolfsburg has not won a home game in the Bundesliga for more than eight months. After the 0-1 defeat against RB Leipzig, players and those responsible struggled, especially with an unspecified retailer in the first half.

What happened? In the 16th minute, a goal shot by Kilian Fischer was deflected in the Leipzig penalty area. The ball crashed into the hand of RB professional Assan Ouedraogo. Referee Robin Braun continued to run the game – an use of the video assistant (VAR) failed to materialize. The situation was clear to Fischer. “I am slowly sorry that so many wrong decisions are still happening, even though we have 50 cameras in the stadium,” said the Wolfsburg, who would have liked to be given a penalty for handball.

VfL coach Paul Simonis also breathed air over the decision. “We have already heard on the bench that it was a clear penalty. Later I heard that they also said at Leipziger Bank: This is a clear handball,” said Simonis.

The Dutch criticism was clearly aimed at referee Braun. Simonis questioned how such a scene could not be punished with technical support. “Only the only important person who makes the decisions did not see it. Or was that not enough to give a penalty,” said Simonis.

He thinks it is really a shame “that such decisions are made if you have the opportunity to stop the game and check it. You have the time, you can take the time. For me, it is inadvertent to me that such mistakes are made.”
