Kathy Hendrich returns to VfL Wolfsburg after five years. The national football player will not extend her contract with the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.

According to VfL, the 33-year-old will devote himself to a new challenge of Monday evening. It is not yet known where the Belgian native will go. Hendrich switched to the Autostadt in 2020. She had previously played for Bayer Leverkusen, the 1st FFC Frankfurt and Bayern Munich.

With Frankfurt, she won the Champions League in 2015, and Wolfsburg also became four times the cup winner and once German champion. The 82-time national player won Olympia-Gold with the 2016 DFB selection and at the summer games 2024 in Paris, there were also EM silver 2022.

Hendrich party with Champions League qualification?

“Dear fans of VfL. In this way I would like to tell you that my time at VfL Wolfsburg will come to an end next summer,” wrote the defender on Instagram. “I was able to win more titles here, winning the” German Doubles “was certainly one of the most beautiful … I could continue writing for hours. So in short: thanks for the great time.”

Hendrich is officially adopted by the factory club as part of the Wolfsburg home game on the last matchday against Leverkusen (2 p.m., in the live center at NDR.de). For the “wolves”, the remote duel with Eintracht Frankfurt (one counter behind) is still about defending second place and the associated direct champions League qualification.

Already seven Wolfsburg departures fixed

In addition to Hendrich, goalkeeper Merle Frohms, Jule Brand (goal still unknown), Tabea Sellner, Kristin Demann (both career ends) as well as Marina Hegering and keeper Lisa Schmitz (both to the 1st FC Köln) will also be on duty for the “wolf”.

To date, the commands of the goalkeepers Stina Johannes (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Martina Tufekovic (TSG Hoffenheim) as well as Cora Zica (SC Freiburg), Sharn Freier (Brisbane Roar) and Janou Levels (Leverkusen) are facing.
