After the second victory in the second World Cup game, ice hockey coach Harold Kreis was in a good mood. When asked what NHL star Tim Stützle said after his arrival in Denmark, the coach answered with a laugh: “Hello Harry, nice that I am there. And I said: Hello Tim, nice that you are there.”
The top striker of the Ottawa Senators had arrived at the Herning World Cup on Sunday afternoon and followed the 4-1 of the German national team against Kazakhstan in the stands. The 23-year-old had previously set up in the cabin. “He was in the front area of the cabin, made a bit of gymnastics, the team did their thing,” said Kreis and added: “I had the impression that he is happy to be there and look forward to training tomorrow with the team.”
On Monday morning, Stützle, who contested his second World Cup after 2022, will go on the ice in the training hall for the first time. His first assignment is planned on Tuesday (4:20 p.m./Pro7 and Magenta Sport) against Norway. “When he says I am there, then he is there,” said Kreis, but restricted: “We haven’t talked any longer. We’ll look during training tomorrow. We brought him out so that he plays, but I can’t definitely say it yet.”
