Paul Dekker has been the organizer of the event for about sixteen years. He can remember that the stands were much closer on the track in the first years.
“If a car went into the water, the audience became black from the prut. Everyone liked that, that just belonged to the autocross of the Beemster. If you leave under the prut, that’s great for the rest of the audience.”
In the meantime it has been necessary for a while that the stands are a bit further off the track due to the safety measures. “That’s a shame, but it is that way.”
