Around 250 inhabitants of Nieuwkapelle and the surrounding area protested on Sunday afternoon against plans to construct a floating solar park on the well of Nieuwkapelle, a pond at Diksmuide. They formed a human chain along the bank to reinforce their resistance. The well is owned by Waterbedrijf De Watergroep, which intends to install nearly 10,000 solar panels on the water surface.
