The 150 kilometers marathon was only decided on the finish line. Slendebroek had to sprint for the victory against Ronald Haasjes and his fellow countryman Jeroen Janissen from Haarlem. Slendebroek finally managed to finish half a second for Haasjes. Janissen had to settle for the bronze.
Slendebroek, who is making his debut this year in the top division of Marathon Skating, also won a competition for the Marathon Cup this season. He drove solo to the finish on ice rink De Westfries in Hoorn.
Kiel wins in women
With the women the victory also went to Noord-Holland. The Bloemendaalse Esther Kiel won the sprint of a thinned peloton after a 100 -kilometer competition. Tessa Snoek was second, for Elsemieke van Maaren.
Eline Cox, Sophie Kraaijeveld and Maaike Verweij tried to prevent another sprint in the final phase of the competition. But they didn’t know how to stay out of the grip of a group with many favorites.
