Before the advance of a low pressure system accompanied by intense winds and low temperatures, The school councils of several municipalities in the south of the province of Buenos Aires announced the suspension of the dictation of classes in the morning shift for Monday, June 23. The measure is due to the recommendation of Civil defense and aims to protect the safety of students and teachers.

Also, authorities from other municipalities in the center of the province warned that they also evaluate the morning shift before the strong decline in temperatures and winds of more than 80 km/h. It is evaluated if the measure will continue early in the first hour, new suspension ads will arrive.

The low pressure system, registered since Sunday night, has generated bursts that could exceed 80 km/h in coastal municipalities and maintaining strong winds during the early morning. Dispersed rains are expected with accumulated between 15 and 30 mm until Monday afternoon, and a marked decrease in temperatures that will reinforce the thermal sensation of intense cold.

The Buenos Aires municipalities that confirmed the suspension of classes are: General Alvarado (Miramar), Mar Chiquita, Necochea, Tres Arroyos, Carmen de Patagones and Coronel Pringles. Official recommendations to citizens are: avoid prolonged exposures to the cold, control the proper functioning of heating and not leave them on without supervision, maintain ventilated environments to prevent poisoning by carbon monoxide and before any emergency, communicate to 103 (civil defense), 100 (firefighters) or 911 (police).

Wind warning

The National Meteorological Service portal said that there is yellow alert in the mentioned areas, with the probability of advancing to orange alert. The orange level dangerous climatic phenomena for society, goods and the environment.
