The band has been around for an unbelievable 60 years! And, yes: There are also musicians from the beginning!

And they show that Rock’n’Roll knows no age: Because the band members are 67.5 years old on average. The British band was founded in the 1960s by school friends Allan Clarke and Graham Nash.

The name “The Hollies” is a tribute to rock ‘n’ roll musician Buddy Holly. The two are no longer there, but the oldest active band members have been on stage since 1963: singer and guitarist Tony Hicks (76) and Bobby Elliott (80) on drums.

With singles like “I’m Alice” or “I Can’t Let Go”, “Bus Stop” and “Carrie Anne” they really took off in Germany. “Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)” or “The Air That I Breathe”.

Everyone really knows their world hit: “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.

The song is about the American Civil War. A soldier carries his badly injured brother over his shoulder and replies precisely this line when asked if that isn’t too heavy.
