Will van Gaal give up coal for the DFB?

Who will be the new national coach of the national team? The hottest lead currently leads to Julian Nagelsmann. But Louis van Gaal was also recently traded. A collaboration probably wouldn’t fail because of the money.

According to “Bild”, van Gaal would be interested in the job at the DFB. For this reason, the salary question would obviously not be the decisive one in possible discussions.

According to information from the tabloid, the 72-year-old is said to have collected around one to three million euros a year as coach of the Dutch national team, part of which he is said to have donated.

Van Gaal led the Elftal to the quarter-finals of the last World Cup, where they were defeated by eventual winners Argentina on penalties.

The “Tulip General’s” last club stop was Manchester United. Van Gaal was on the sidelines for the English record champions between 2014 and 2016. According to “Bild”, the Dutchman earned up to eight million euros a year from the Red Devils.

Van Gaal would probably work for the DFB on cheaper salaries. “I don’t normally train at a club anymore, but a promising country still has a chance to convince me,” the Dutchman recently told “Bild” that he wasn’t completely opposed to the position as national coach.

National team: Prominent advocates for van Gaal

Van Gaal has two prominent advocates in the two 2014 world champions Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm. “My wish, or what would be best for the team, is Louis van Gaal,” said Schweinsteiger on “ARD”.

“As a coach, Louis van Gaal stands for discipline, order and structure in the way his teams play. He always conveys this through a very clear speech,” said Lahm at “Bild”.

However, the hottest lead currently leads to Julian Nagelsmann. According to information from RTL/ntv and sport.de, Rudi Völler contacted his advisor Volker Struth. “Bild” also reported on this new development surrounding the national coach question at the DFB.
