Will Tygo Gernandt be kicked out of the NPO now that a report has been filed against him for domestic violence? TV authority Tina Nijkamp thinks so. “What a shocking story,” sighs the TV authority.

It really doesn’t matter what the latest Privé says. The magazine has published an eight-page article about alleged domestic violence by Tygo Gernandt, which is supported by, among other things, a police report, stills from a video, audio messages and ex-girlfriends who speak out by name.

Does NPO dump Tygo?

TV authority Tina Nijkamp has gone through it and fears the worst for the new NPO program that Tygo is working on. “What a shocking story,” she says in her podcast Tina’s TV Update. “He has made a number of docuseries for the EO and he is now working on a four-part docuseries for the NPO, called Tygo en de Flakka.”

Will that continue? “I didn’t know it, but that is also a drug, and that is what the docuseries is about. This time it is not for NPO 3, 2 or 1, but for NPO Start. Yes, the question is of course: what will the NPO do next? It is yet another star of the NPO that has been discredited, of course.”

In meeting

It doesn’t stop at the NPO, says Tina. “Well, we still remember that whole series of men last year: Bert Huisjes, Remco van Leen and domestic violence was of course Theo Maassen, and now the first scandal in 2025. Now Tygo Gernandt again, just like Theo Maassen because of domestic violence. What is the NPO doing now?”

“I have asked the NPO for a response. They are now in a meeting about this, there is no other option, together with the EO. Knowing the EO and NPO, I think this docuseries will simply end up in the trash. I honestly think so. I don’t think the NPO is saying: ‘Well, let’s broadcast this on NPO Start.’”

Through the shredder

It is unthinkable that NPO boss Frederieke Leeflang will continue this. She actually didn’t want Theo Maassen on TV anymore, but BnnVara didn’t want to budge. “The NPO really cannot broadcast another scandal. If they do start broadcasting it, there will be a lot of noise about it.”

Also because the new program is about drugs, says Tina. “And that article in the Privé is also very much about drugs and that he would be very concerned about them, even though he himself denies it. Precisely because the theme is exactly the same, I think they have no choice but to put this through the shredder.”

Standstill

Private boss Evert Santegoeds thinks that Tygo is really the fool. “His career has come to a standstill at the moment, at least at Flikken Maastricht. He faces prosecution, so there is plenty to worry about if your name is Tygo Gernandt,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

Tygo denies all allegations. The EO, which is behind Tygo and the Flakke, leaves it to it A.D know: “We take the recent developments seriously and keep a close eye on them. We will consult with the parties involved in the series about these recent developments.”
