Will the next Europa League hero move from Eintracht Frankfurt to FCK?

With Ragnar Ache, Erik Durm and Almamy Touré, second division soccer team 1. FC Kaiserslautern already has three players under contract who sensationally won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022. In winter, the SGE faction at FCK could grow with another Frankfurt title hero.

There has been no sign of the once great southwest rivalry between Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Kaiserslautern on the transfer market for a long time.

With the German national players Kevin Trapp and Robin Koch, two former FCK young talents are part of the Hessians’ permanent staff. With Kevin Kraus, Ragnar Ache, Erik Durm and Almamy Touré, four ex-Frankfurters wear the jersey of the Palatinate second division team.

Ache, Durm and Touré were also part of the Eintracht team that sensationally won the Europa League in May 2022. Another European Cup hero from Hesse could join the Red Devils in winter.

SGE hero to FCK? A Bundesliga club should also show interest

Because according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, Ajdin Hrustic is about to leave Italy. The Australian international, who scored Frankfurt’s second penalty in the Seville final, joined Hellas Verona for the 2022/23 season.

However, Hrustic has only made six league appearances with the Serie A club so far – also because a persistent ankle injury has been troubling the 27-year-old midfielder since January.

Di Marzio also reported that Hrustic, who once played with Leroy Sané for FC Schalke 04’s U17 juniors, is also interested in a German first division club, VfL Bochum.

Apart from his penalty conversion in the Europa League final against Glasgow Rangers, the technically adept Hrustic didn’t leave much of a mark on Eintracht Frankfurt. Between 2020 and 2022 he played 40 competitive appearances for the Hessians, in which he scored three goals.
