Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi for BVB points

As of: October 16, 2025 5:05 p.m

“Nico Schlotterbeck is in his prime,” says podcast host Anne Hilt in the “Bundesliga Update”. For them he could become the decisive factor in taking Bayern’s top striker Harry Kane out of the game. Co-host Jens Walbrodt is not convinced that Bayern can really be beaten, but he also sees opportunities for BVB.

Since Schlotterbeck has been playing again, BVB have only conceded one goal, and the DFB team even got through the international break without conceding a goal. But Jens still sees a question mark as to who will play alongside Schlotterbeck in the BVB defense. At the time the podcast was recorded, the press conference at which Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said that there may still be a question mark behind Schlotterbeck had not yet taken place.

On the other hand, it could be exciting to see who will take on the high-speed player Karim Adeyemi. Konrad Laimer’s defensive qualities speak for him, while Rafael Guerreiro could perhaps provide more activity offensively against his former club.

Another point that speaks for BVB is the significantly improved exploitation of opportunities compared to previous seasons. Bayern probably won’t allow much, but they only need a few chances to score.

Will Eintracht Frankfurt manage the restart?

Eintracht Frankfurt went into the international break as the “shooting gallery of the league”. Only the strong offensive has so far ensured that Eintracht is still in a single-digit place in the table (currently 7th). However, Anne and Jens agree that, among other things, the return of Rasmus Kristensen to team training could provide new stability in the defense. In addition, coach Dino Toppmöller could have used the international break to at least think about changing the goalkeeper, as Michael Zetterer has a significantly better record than Kaua Santos with the same number of shots on goal.
