Around the 2026 Winter Olympics, rumors of changes surrounding Johannes Hösflot Kläbo suddenly popped up. An old video suggests that the Norwegian uber-athlete could switch to cycling. The head of the Uno-X cycling team reacts clearly.

The over-star of the Olympic Games was a Norwegian. Johannes Hösflot Kläbo collected six gold medals for the Scandinavians alone (for comparison: Germany won a total of eight gold medals) and was crowned the most successful Winter Olympian ever.

His spectacular climbs made the rounds online and went viral. In his current form he seems almost unbeatable.

So much so that cross-country skiing bores him?

Some cycling fans recently had hopes that the 29-year-old could change sports and compete in cycling.

Team boss of Uno-X becomes clear

Last summer, Kläbo was a guest of the Norwegian team Uno-X during the Tour de France. In a video he made a mysterious suggestion.

“First I have to compete in the Olympic Games, then we’ll see. After that I’ll really think about what I want to do. Maybe signing up for Uno-X should be the next goal,” said the cross-country skier.

So will we soon be switching from skis to bikes?

Gino Van Oudenhoven, the Belgian team leader at WorldTour team Uno-X, slams these rumors.

Kläbo has been sponsored by the team for years and has trained with the drivers several times. But: “Social media is social media. If something like that comes up, we’ll jump on it. But there are no plans at all for him to race,” Van Oudenhoven made it clear to “Sporza”.

Apart from the video mentioned, there are no other statements from Kläbo that indicate this. During the games in the Italian Alps, he made it clear that the upcoming games in France would be his next big goal.

Van Oudenhoven is impressed by the funding in Norway. “Bodo Glimt’s striker (Kasper Høgh, editor’s note) beat Kläbo in cross-country skiing when they were 15 years old. In Norway we are one step further in endurance sports. You saw that in smaller sports, now also in larger sports. It is an ideal country to grow up in,” said the team boss.
