Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder has made a name for himself in the NBA. Now the development player is supposedly about to make the jump to an absolute top team.

According to information from “ESPN”, the Golden State Warriors around superstar Steph Curry want to lure 31-year-old Schröder from the Brooklyn Nets to California. The first discussions about a change are said to have already taken place.

A trade for current Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton is apparently on the cards. The Nets would also receive several draft picks as part of the deal.

Schröder is having a strong season on the East Coast so far. He averages 18.6 points, three rebounds and 6.5 assists. His form seemed to be getting better and better in the last few weeks.

The DBB captain recently had a gala performance against the Milwaukee Bucks with 34 points and eleven assists. And yet the Nets apparently want to give up their starter.

The team from New York is currently being rebuilt. Nevertheless, with ten wins and 14 defeats, they are doing comparatively well. In the Nets’ opinion, probably too good.

Schröder will soon be looking for a club in the NBA

A strong record would reduce the chances in the draft, where the best young players are awarded in the summer. The order in which the teams select the stars of tomorrow is determined by a lottery. The worst franchises have the best chance of getting the first pick.

Before the season, the Nets had already given up their star player Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks. If the team were to sacrifice Schröder for better draft chances, the Braunschweig native would have an unexpected opportunity.

Because Golden State belongs to the extended circle of title favorites. In San Francisco they are hoping for the next championship after last winning the NBA title in 2022.

The NBA’s transfer window runs until February 6th. In the summer, Schröder will be faced with the question of his future anyway. Then his two-year contract, which he originally negotiated with the Toronto Raptors and which will bring him a total of $25 million, ends.
