The World Cup premiere of the ski jumpers in Lake Placid has been postponed by several hours due to strong winds.

Because in the early morning (local time) only 14 jumpers left the bar after 90 minutes, the competition at 0.15 a.m. CET (6.15 p.m. local time) will be restarted. For world champion Katharina Schmid and Co. it will be the first World Cup at the Olympic scene of 1932 and 1980.

The first attempt was characterized by many long breaks. The POLIN Pola Beltowska, which came to 131.0 m with start number 6, benefited from the sometimes strong update and exceeded the ski jump record for women by three meters. Due to the demolition, however, this expanse is not rated as an official record.

Lake Placid had returned to the men’s World Cup calendar two years ago after 32 years ago, now the women are now in the US state of New York for the first time. Another individual competition is planned for Saturday (8.30 p.m. CET), followed by a mixed (23.00/each ARD and Eurosport).
