Danilo Gallinari and his wife go on vacation on a beach in Puerto Rico. Then the situation suddenly escalates.
A bathing trip on Puerto Rico ended with a medical emergency for Danilo Gallinari and his wife Eleonora Boi. The wife of the former NBA basketball player was apparently bitten by a shark while swimming on the Isla Verde Beach-she is pregnant and was injured to the hospital. The incident occurred on July 31. Boi suffered an open wound on the thigh and, according to the authorities, had to be treated immediately in the Medical Center in Río Piedras. It is in stable condition.
Although it was initially not clear which animal had caused the attack, the bite traces pointed out to a shark, according to local authorities. Photos of the injury would show typical features. A final analysis is still pending. In the meantime, local media had also speculated about a possible Barrakuda bite.
Boi himself now commented on Instagram. “That was the worst day of my life,” she wrote. “I never thought that I would be attacked by a shark on a crowded beach.”
Then she gave the all -clear: “Fortunately, the baby and myself are doing well. I was saved quickly, and the operation to repair my evil -born leg went well.” Ultimately, Boi also took the attack with humor afterwards: “As for the shark: You will hear from my lawyers,” joked the journalist.
She wrote worthy words to her husband: “I thank my husband, who gave me all his love and so much courage.” After the end of his NBA career, the 36-year-old Gallinari now plays for Vaqueros de Bayamón in the Liga Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) by Puerto Rico. In a total of 16 years in the NBA, he was active for the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Atlanta Hawks. In Italy’s national team, too, Gallinari is still an integral part of the squad.
