What a blunder: by far the most juicy moment of Monique Hansler’s TV adventure — her argument with Denise van der Laan — was not captured by SBS 6. “Unbroadcastable things happened.”
Monique Hansler and Denise van der Laan had a mega argument during the recording period of the Hansler soap. Because of that conflict, Mike Hansler even broke off his relationship with Denise and she had to leave the house in a hurry to move into a shabby caravan. Denise is said to have gossiped about the difficult dealings with Monique.
Crucial moment
Although everyone really understands Denise’s attitude – it is not without reason that Monique becomes ‘mother-in-law from hell’ mentioned — there was no understanding whatsoever among Mike and Mo. The funny thing is: that argument and the immediate aftermath were never filmed by SBS 6. We only saw those involved last week talking about the new situation.
Angela de Jong thinks it’s a blunder. “Just like with Winter Vol Liefde last year, the camera was missing at the most crucial moment, which I thought was very telling,” she says at the desk of RTL Tonight. “Then the main actors told a little about what would have happened.”
Eleven days
The SBS 6 camera crew did not return to the scene until much later. “There were eleven days between the last recordings and when it apparently exploded. How should we interpret that? That was also the case with Winter Vol Liefde. I think things just happened that afterwards they thought: we cannot broadcast this.”
It therefore remains unclear to the viewer what exactly happened, says Angela. “I still don’t know what I was watching this week.”
‘No way!’
Denise denies that the argument was recorded, but not broadcast. “There were really no cameras there,” she says The Telegraph.
There were also no cameras at a reconciliation meeting initiated by Monique, she says. “She said: ‘Let’s have a talk, this arguing with each other is of no use to anyone.’ I went to them without any cameras.”
During that conversation, Denise was asked if she wanted to work at the beach club again because of the summer crowds.
Back in the bar
Denise refused and left for the Netherlands. “To be clear: I am not talking about the conversation that will be broadcast on TV next Monday.”
For that final conversation, tonight on SBS 6, Denise traveled to Spain again. “In that final conversation, Monique says to me: ‘Denise, if you just go back to the Netherlands, then you don’t love Mike.’ That seems to me to be something between him and me anyway, but for me it confirmed that it was a good decision not to accept their offer.”
