French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that France will recognize Palestine as a state, amidst the growing global anger about the famine in Gaza. France is the largest and most powerful European country that Palestine recognizes. Although this recognition is mainly symbolic, Macron hopes to get a peace process going.
