Maan De Steenwinkel once shook hit after hit from her sleeve, then got a relationship with one of the boys from the notorious Snuifgroep Goldband and then things went wrong. “Is that boy.”
Her victory at The Voice of Holland managed to cleverly milked the Steenwinkel out of the now 28-year-old Moon: with a handy combination of TV recognition and a father who was high in the tree at Pauw, she came to the right places. She scored a series of cheerful hits, but somewhere along the way she got it too high in the bulb.
Moon
Maan began to see herself as a kind of artistic Grande Dame, while the Netherlands mainly knew her from airy summery tunes. The result? She has lost her record deal and is now empty -handed.
Own fault, big bump, says Johan Derksen. “That moon once won The Voice – I don’t understand why, because she can’t sing … I think she can’t sing, at least she shows that at least. It is a nice girl and he had those kindergarten songs and that became little hits for the young people,” he starts in Today Inside.
Neighbor
And then? “And then she became creative and floating and then she started choosing another repertoire, ‘interesting’ interviews boy, all bullshit in space. Well, those records did not sell, they were not played, so the record company brought her out.”
But moon can sing in itself? “No, she can’t sing! She has nothing! She sings like every neighbor! Just like Roxy Dekker. He can’t sing at all. Nice musings.”
Nice hits
Table guest Tina Nijkamp thinks it’s a shame. “Moon had nice hits.”
Johan: “Oh yes, but you don’t have to be good to have a hit. Anouk and Mel can sing.”
Tina thinks it will come through Maan’s friend, Karel Gerlach from the controversial Goldband. “With Maan it went a bit wrong when she got a relationship with that boy from Goldband and then she wanted to do a bit of alternative. A bit of what André Hazes went through at the time.”
Rock and Roll
André also thought he was more than simple songs at some point. “He had thrown out his writers team,” I’m going to do Rock and Roll now, do it differently, “but when a tip comes to the mark, the hits will stay out. André is now back to the old style.”
Tina continues: “It is just like that Caro Emerald, who also had such a very nice hit, worldwide famous, and suddenly she started to turn, because it was no longer good, and she started to be called The Jordan. We never heard of her again!”
Pride
Maan has perished with pride, Johan concludes. “It is a form of pride and starting to believe in yourself. You then think that you are really a star. You are not.”
He concludes: “You are a toy from the record company that sees commercially what numbers you have to make for the target group.”
Maan announced on Instagram that the moment Charles is lifted by someone during her performance at Lowlands are the most beautiful images in her career:
