Jan Dijkgraaf stops as biographer of the Meilandjes: the publishing house they managed together, Osjato, is closed down. “We have made excellent money from the publishing house,” the statement reads.
In recent years, the Meilandjes have earned a lot of money from the books they published in collaboration with biographer Jan Dijkgraaf. The book about Martien in particular was a bestseller. The book about Maxime, on the other hand, was a miss; she randomly accused someone of rape, which led to high legal costs.
Publisher stops
Now that the abuse case surrounding Maxime has been settled, Jan and the Meilandjes have decided to end their publishing house Osjato as of May 1. “We made excellent money from the publishing house and kept things alive because we had a lot of legal costs,” he responds.
Maxime reportedly bought off the business. “That is why we could now finally make a decision about the future of the publishing house. It is time for new things,” says Jan.
Is there a bonus?
Since the Meilandjes are known for milking everything they have, no one would have been surprised if they had published another book. Why are they closing that door now? Is there a fight behind the scenes?
No, Jan assures me X. “Time for new activities! And we’re going to stay together as friends :-)”
