Let yourself be tempted by all kinds of sweets

It Festival of Sweet Temptations is especially for cake bakers and those with a sweet tooth who want to marvel at all kinds of goodies and want to see famous patissiers in real life in the baking theater. Watch baking demonstrations by Hidde de Brabander, Rutger van den Broek, Sarena Solari and the brand new winner of Heel Holland Bakt Enzo Pérès-Labourdette, who surprised the jury members with his creative vegan baking. Chef Mikael Lindqvist of Villa BlauwHemel from Diever shows how the Swedes make their fika delicacies.

You can also walk past various stands full of gadgets, home items and brocante or you can follow various workshops. The festival will be held this weekend at Gasterij De Schildhoeve in Fluitenberg from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on festivalzoet.nl find the whole program.

Stroll along stalls with art, textiles, plants and more

The SintJansmarkt is a festive market in the Kloostertuin in Kloosterburen. This year the market will be combined with the art market MonMarne. You can stroll around the stalls with textiles, plants, ceramics, paintings, wool, jams and much more.

Duo Lanyok provides the musical accompaniment, Kendall’s Cakes & Catering arranges treats with coffee or drinks and children can go to Konka’s mosaic & more for a mini workshop. The market can be visited on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Outdoor festival in the middle of the forest

At Buitencentrum Boomkroonpad, The Outdoor Festival was held on Sunday. There is plenty to do for all ages throughout the day. There is a market, various demonstrations, walks with the forester, activities and workshops. And all that in the middle of the forest!

The Outdoor Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Entrance is free.

Enjoy steam trains during City Canal under Steam

The steam spectacle City Canal under Steam will take place for the sixth time on Saturday and Sunday. During the weekend, many steam trains run on the longest museum railway in the Netherlands. Special guest is steam locomotive this year Cockerill of the Museum Buurtspoorweg from Haaksbergen. In addition, steam locomotive 52 8082 can be seen under steam for the first time in 34 years!

But not only trains, also steam engines, historic buses, ships and model trains can be seen in Stadskanaal. Between Stadskanaal and Veendam and between Stadskanaal and Nieuw-Buinen, an intensive timetable will be run with the historic trains on both days. The Museum Railway STAR is open both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Walking and enjoying music in the meantime

Sunday afternoon you can join the Musical detour a walk of more than five kilometers in and around Zuidwolde in Drenthe.

Woudklank musicians play at various places on the route. The start is between 13.00 and 14.00 from primary school Het Groene Hart. Participation is free. The walking route is also wheelchair accessible.
