Refugees from Syria, Eritrea and Kazakhstan tell their story on Sunday (2 p.m., admission is free) in the Stefanus Church in Westerbork. They tell how they ended up in Westerbork, what they went through and how they experience life here. Visitors learn more about the background of the status holders, the narrators themselves hope to expand their social network.
During this Stefanus Session, snacks are also made and served for the guests from the countries where the refugees come from. This afternoon’s musical input touches on the countries where the refugees come from.
Beginners and professionals can register at Facet Emmen Center on Sunday for an intuitive painting workshop, given by Astrid Brinkman and Ria Medema.
“Intuitive painting is about the process of painting freely from within; becoming detached from thinking, from how things should be done and finding peace in your head. This brings you closer to yourself and you can, as it were, play with paint and color. You can enjoy like a child again and disappear into the moment,” the description reads. For 15 euros (members 10) you can get started from 13.00.
The annual off-road ride of Motor GP Eext is scheduled for Sunday. A 50-kilometre ride over various terrains, including the sand excavation at Gieten. From 9 a.m. the quads and motorcycles hit the road, or rather, off it.
Whether everyone is fresh and fruity in Eext remains to be seen, because on Saturday evening there is the Stunt Festijn Snowball Party in the village, the Alpine sisters, Henk Dissel and Frank van Etten, among others, take the stage.
