It will be possible to chase or kill ‘problem wolves’ in Drenthe as a last resort. That is the most important change in the concept of the new Interprovincial Wolvenplan where it is Newspaper of the North writes about.

To be labeled as such a ‘problem wolf’, the animal must end up on the top rungs of the so-called escalation ladder. Only if wolf repellent measures – such as protection measures for livestock – and repelling have no effect and the wolf poses a direct danger to people, is it a ‘problem wolf’.

According to the provincial wolf plan, removing the animal is the only solution, the newspaper writes.

The (possible) wolf attacks have been keeping the minds in our province busy for a long time. The animal would have struck in Wittelte, Uffelte and Wapserveen. DNA testing by BIJ12 has yet to confirm this.

Agricultural organization LTO came up with the plan this week to be able to chase away the wolf if necessary, which the province seems to be following. Critics indicated that they found this ‘unachievable’.

Do you think that shooting the wolf should be a possible option, or is that going too far? Let us know in today’s statement:
