West Flemish selected for European Rowing Championships, Tibo Vivey not allowed

Tibo Vyvey, the undisputed number 1 in the lightweights and reigning Belgian champion in the single sculls, has to be satisfied with a selection for a World Cup round from 16 to 18 June in Varese, Italy. Vivey participates as a duo together with the young Mil Blommaert. In addition to Vyvey, Ruben Claeys, Gaston Mercier and Ward Lemmelijn were also not included in the selection for the European Championship. The national coach based his choices on the results of the trials (Belgian championships), the Race Seat (over 1,000 metres) and the Ghent regattas.

The European Championship in Bled is the first important hurdle for the Belgian Sharks in the qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris. However, the first tickets will not be awarded until the World Cup in Belgrade in early September.
