WeSports announces the relaunch of Keller Sports

The online sporting goods retailer Keller Sports is about to return. On Tuesday, the Swedish retail group WeSports Scandinavia AB announced that it had acquired the trademark rights, e-commerce platform and customer data from Keller Sports and Keller X.

Munich-based Keller Group GmbH, which previously operated the platforms, had to file for bankruptcy last December. After the search for investors failed, the associated online stores ceased operations in March.

Now a solution has been found. Keller Sports will be relaunched as a “comprehensive sporting goods supplier”, the new owner announced in a statement. To this end, WeSports has already entered into a “strategic partnership” with the Swedish retail group Footway Group AB in order to use its e-commerce services and logistics capacities.

With the acquisition of Keller Sports, WeSports “seized a great opportunity,” said CEO Martin Appelfeldt in a statement. The group can thus expand its presence throughout Europe.

WeSports had already taken over numerous sports retailers in the Nordic countries in recent years and, according to its own statements, now has a market-leading position in important categories such as cycling, fitness, skiing and ice hockey in Sweden and Finland.
