Weser Stadium history soon? Filbry makes you take notice

The Weser Stadium is still called Weser Stadium. But how long? Werder boss Klaus Filbry makes you listen to his latest statements.
Werder boss Klaus Filbry sees urgent need for action when it comes to stadium name. “We have three options, and the most lucrative is to sell the name completely,” says the managing director of the Grün-Weißen in an interview with “Buten un inland”.
Previously, the Bremen Weser Stadium wore a double name with the company Wohninvest. “This first name solution was well received by most,” said Filbry. There are currently interest and discussions. “But we are not shortly before a degree and wait for the next few weeks.”
The reason for the sale: “It is urgently necessary for us to market the right to name. Due to the stadium conversion 2009/2010, we have high liabilities to Weserstadion GmbH, which we have to gradually dismantle,” Filbry told the regional magazine.
The Bremen Weser Stadium was rebuilt from 2008 to 2011 for around 76 million euros. Werder participated with around 30 million euros and has since been contributing annual payments to Weserstadion GmbH, which belongs to the state of Bremen. Loans and ongoing interest rates are still at the club. Additional income from the stadium names should help to continue to repay the debts.
Despite the burden, Filbry currently sees no need for new external investors. “There are currently no efforts for another deal,” he says. The existing “regional alliance” has made important steps possible: “Contract extensions with regular players, the transfer of Samuel Mbangula or an equity contribution to our infrastructure – all of this has raised us to another level,” he emphasized.
