Wes Anderson: “I See What You Don’t See” & more on Netflix

Four adaptations of Roald Dahl’s short stories will be available successively from September 27th. in streaming.

Fans of Wes Anderson can rejoice, as four short films by the cult director will be released on Netflix this week. All of them are based on the short stories by Roald Dahl, whose “Fantastic Mr. Fox” the director filmed in stop-motion animation in 2009. The Anderson Influx begins on Wednesday (September 27th) with “I See What You Don’t See,” followed by a film every day until Saturday (September 30th). As is typical of his work, the cast is once again full of familiar faces from Hollywood.

September 27th: “I see something you don’t see”

At 39 minutes, this is the longest of the four films. In it, rich Henry Sugar (Benedict Cumberbatch) learns about a man who learned to see without eyes. In order to win at gambling, he relies on learning this skill himself. Also there: Dev Patel, Ben Kingsely and Ralph Fiennes in the role of Roald Dahl.

September 28: “The Swan”

Then on Thursday comes a 17-minute film about a clever little boy (Asa Jennings) who has to escape from two bigger — and less clever — bullies.

September 29: “The Pied Piper”

This film stars Ralph Fiennes in the lead role of an exterminator, but also stars Rupert Friend and Richard Ayoade. It is based on a lesser-known Dahl story and also has a running time of 17 minutes.

September 30: “Poison”

The final highlight of the Anderson week is “Gift”, a film about a man (Benedict Cumberbatch) who discovers a sleeping poisonous snake in his bed and behaves very strangely. Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel and Ben Kingsely also return for this film. Like “The Swan” and “The Pied Piper,” this film is 17 minutes long.
